Carriage House Gentrification

This project involved the comprehensive renovation of a historic four-story carriage house, originally constructed in 1899, into a modern townhouse. The renovation entailed gutting and rebuilding most of the 6,550-sf structure while retaining the original perimeter walls, floors, stairs, and elevator. The layout was reconfigured to achieve expansive, open spaces while minimizing corridor areas all without compromising ceiling height, Extensive coordination was required to fit new mechanical and structural systems within the existing framework. Industrial elements such as steel and glass doors frame transitions between rooms and maintain sightlines across the open floor plan.
